The Department of Development Economics at St. Pius X College, Rajapuram, established in 1995, has been a pioneer in economics education. Initially offering a BA in Economics, the department innovated its curriculum in the 2000-01 academic year to introduce the distinctive BA in Development Economics. In the academic year 2005-06 the department started offering MA in Development Economics, which is a unique post graduate programme with special emphasis on developmental issues in Economics.
